Reyaz A. Kassamali
Managing Director
Reyaz joined Hilco Consumer Capital in 2008 as a Managing Director. He brings over 10 years of mergers and acquisitions, investment, financing, recapitalization and other deal experience to HCC.
Prior to HCC, Reyaz worked as a Director in investment banking at Financo and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, where he specialized in retail/consumer M&A and advised such clients as Wal-Mart, Jones Apparel, Pathmark, Home Depot, Best Buy, Andrew Marc, and The Athlete’s Foot, among others, as well as private equity funds active in the space. His responsibilities included transaction structuring, deal negotiation, financial analysis and new business development.
Before joining Wasserstein Perella in 2000, Reyaz was an attorney with the law firm of Latham & Watkins in New York and London, where he advised on mergers and acquisitions, high yield financings, private equity/venture capital transactions and international antitrust matters.
Reyaz is the author of “From Fiction to Fallacy: Reviewing the E.C. Merger Regulation’s Thresholds in the Light of Economics and Experience in Merger Control,” which appeared in the European Law Review’s Competition Law Survey in 1996.
Reyaz holds a B.A. magna cum laude from Yale University, an M.A. in Law with honours from the University of Cambridge, and a J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School.
